Storytime at Elsternwick Library
There’s something truly special about sharing a story in person. I remember loving library time at primary school.. SO MUCH! On Sunday afternoon, Claudia and I had the fun of visiting Elsternwick Library for a Storytime session to celebrate National Grandparents Day!

It was such a heartwarming afternoon. We read My Nonno Loves aloud to a wonderful group of children, parents, and grandparents who joined us for the session. Together, we explored all the things that make Nonno so loveable — from his gardening, to making things in his shed and his big heart. It was lovely to see how many little faces lit up as they recognised something familiar in Nonno — whether it was a shared family tradition, a favourite meal, or just that special connection between grandparent and grandchild.
After the reading, we got busy with a hands-on craft activity. Everyone got to make their very own “My Nonno Loves” badges! Kids drew, coloured, and decorated badges that celebrated someone special in their lives — Nonno, Nonna, Mum, Dad, or even a favourite pet. Glitter, markers, and laughter filled the room as the tables came alive with creativity. Each badge told its own story of love, family, and imagination.

It was such a joy watching children proudly wear their creations and share them with their families. One little boy said, “I’m making this sister badge!” to which his mum replied, “You don’t have a sister!” HA!
Claudia and I are so grateful to Glen Eira Libraries for inviting us to be part of this event and for their ongoing support of local authors and illustrators. Libraries like these play such a vital role in connecting communities, and giving families a space to share stories together.
A huge thank you to the wonderful library staff and to everyone who came along to listen, laugh, and make art with us. We loved every minute and can’t wait to visit again soon!
